"HECTOR"
Chlout's Hector of NorthWapiti
(Alaskan's Raven of Anadyr x Alaskan's Baleen of Anadyr)

Hector is a character. During Iditarod 2004 he took great delight in starting 'group howls' in checkpoints along the Race. Just outside of White Mountain - on a cold, clear morning - he led the team in a stirring song to start us on the last leg of our journey to Nome. It is a memory I will always cherish. He has made every Iditarod team since 2004!

To honour the memory of dear Sam and Slik, our very special North Wapiti boys. With love & respect: Lee & Jim DesJardins, Ancaster, Canada.

"HERMAN"
Chlout's Herman of NorthWapiti
(Alaskan's Raven of Anadyr x Alaskan's Baleen of Anadyr)

'The Hermanator', as Mark often calls him - Herman is all business. He just wants to get to work! One of the most consistent and solid sled dogs we own. Irreplaceable.

Alice and Travis are proud to sponsor Herman again this year. He has provided the North Wapiti Team with a lot of energy and strength over the years. He is still a cherished member of the TEAM!!!!

"BARQ"
NorthWapiti’s Barq, He's Got Bite
(NorthWapiti's Butch Cassidy, SD x Alaskan's Jumper of Anadyr)

Barq took a long time to actually make the main string but he was so worth the wait. Barq eats up ground with his stride. He is one of those dogs that you can just put into a team and forget about. He just goes about his job without question or complaint.  Super fast, super driven – just an all round super dog!

Barq is sponsored by Friends of Harnessed To Hope Northern Breed Rescue.

"DASHER"
Ch. NorthWapiti’s Dasher
(NorthWapiti's Butch Cassidy, SD x Ch. Northwapiti's Valkyrie Kara)

Dasher is a little ‘party gal’. Always looking for a good time and never serious about anything. However, she has been the ‘go to’ leader in the yard for many seasons, so “PARTY ON DASHER”.

Dasher is sponsored by Cheryl Dawson.

"ODIE"
NorthWapiti's Odin
(Tumnatki's Bosun NorthWapiti x Multi BIS Ch. Chuchinka's Dance in the Wind SDX)

Odie has been a strong mainstay on my team since he was 2 years old finishing Iditarod in '04, '06 and '08, as well as many, many other races. Never dropped, never injured and never having an 'off' race. Hardworking to the core!

Odie is sponsored by LaRita Skipper.

"LOKI"
CH NorthWapiti's Loki
(Tumnatki's Bosun NorthWapiti x Multi BIS Ch. Chuchinka's Dance in the Wind SDX)

Like his brother Odie, Loki has been a strong mainstay on my team since for his entire running career finishing Iditarod 3 times as well as many, many other races. Loki is about all one could ask for in a Siberian - handsome, hardworking and very fun loving! A real driving force!

Loki is sponsored by Deb Custer.

"OLENA"
Alaskan's Olena of Anadyr
(Alaskan's Meekur of Anadyr x Alaskan's Yakut of Anadyr II)

Dominant, outspoken, opinionated, and EVIL are probably the most often used words to describe Olena. Yet, despite it - well, probably because of it, she is among my very favorites in the yard.  She is a dog full of contradictions - ridiculously confident and hard driving -  very sweet and loving to people - and a fabulous Mom to her pups. She has never managed to finish an Iditarod with me, but she is a asset to any team she is a member of for any time she is in it. She is absolutely DRIVEN in harness. But perhaps her greatest contribution to the kennel is the next generation she is providing us with. Her children are some of the brightest stars in the future of the kennel.

Evil Ollie, I love your independent streak, enjoy retirement old girl. Marlene Daniels.

"MOSES"
Chlout's Moses of Velikaya
(Smokey II Of Velikaya x Buffy Of Velikaya)

This handsome boy came to us in 2003.  Since then he has finished 3 Iditarods and many other races and has always been a force in the team.  In his prime, pretty much everyone that rode with our team commented on Moses - his hard driving, never quit attitude was hard to overlook.  He has a big list of fans - with Mark and I at the top of it.

Donna Quante writes: After sponsoring Moses for several years, I moved to Q.  But I can't stand the thought of Moses not having a sponsor. I wish he could come live in Alaska. :) Just love this husky!

"KAYLINN"
Chuchinka's San Antonio Rose
(Chuchinka's Austin x Chuchinka's Restless Wind)

For those that don't know Kaylinn's story, she came to us as a four year old dog that wasn't even harness broke. I had no expectations of her making the team in her first season but when it came time to load the truck for Alaska - there she was. I was thrilled that she got to go to Alaska, but figured there was no way she would make the Iditarod team - yet at the start line of Iditarod - there she was. I had zero expectations of her finishing Iditarod, but in Nome - there she was. Not only did she do a bang up job on the trail, she did a couple key stretches in lead!

Kaylinn is sponsored by Pat Ellinger!

- 14 Years, Team Dog -

"JOEY"
Alaskan's Georgio of Anadyr
(Alaskan's Max Factor of Anadyr x Alaskan's Keys of Anadyr)

Joey is a sweet little girl with beautiful blue eyes.  Her biggest contribution to our kennel was in her son JR who made my main race teams until he retired and now her grandson Wifi!

Joey is lovingly sponsored by Kathryn and Pete Trussell

- 10 Years, Team Dog -

"NEWT"
Four Winds Newt
(Samoht's Jack x Kodiak's Faradela)

Newt trained with our team for years but could not quite make my main race teams.  If Newt where a human child, he’d have lip piercings, tattoos, would wear rip jeans and chains and would have dropped out of school just to annoy his mother.  Even so it is hard to resist his rugged good looks and not fall under the spell of those piercing blue eyes.

SPONSOR NEWT
