Yukon Quest/Iditarod 2006 - Tales from the Trail

March 9, 2006

Greetings!

Not sure how much time I can steal the computer for (they don't have computers for mushers like last year), so this will be rambling, short and sweet.

Everything is going very well. The dogs are doing GREAT! I am so pleased and proud of them!

The trail has been fantastic - with the exception of the nasty hot weather and rutted trail to Finger Lake. The Steps and the Gorge were the 'easiest' I've ever seen them - but don't get me wrong - they are NASTY even at the best of times.

I've slept more this race then ever before - must be getting old! :) Just got out of the shower, about to eat (yet again) - life is good!

Draco and Surge are both fine - but I was staring at 14 wagging tails and 2 non wagging ones - so home they went.

My eye is starting to turn color and is still swollen but doesn't hurt much.

Must run!!

Karen
